1921 December 18, (Taisho 10), Chiyoko Yamaguchi was born in Kyoto and spent her childhood in Daishoji, Ishikawa Prefecture until she got married.

Around 1930 (Showa 5), Chiyoko Yamaguchi's uncle, Wasaburo Sugano, encountered Chujiro Hayashi and learned Reiki, leading many relatives to learn this method.

1938 (Showa 13), after graduating from high school, Chiyoko Yamaguchi participated in a seminar taught by Chujiro Hayashi who was visiting Daishoji, received Reiju, and learned Reiki treatment method. From then on, she attended workshops whenever Hayashi sensei visited and dedicated herself to further study.

1942 (Showa 17), she moved to Manchuria after getting married but returned to Japan after the war. Despite facing various hardships while raising young children during and post-war period, she overcame them with Reiki.

1951 (Showa 26), she relocated to Kyoto with her husband, and her fourth son, Tadao, was born the following year, making her a mother of four. True to the words "There is nothing more convenient than Reiki for raising children.” she extensively utilized Reiki as a home remedy. Not only her family but also neighbours and acquaintances benefited greatly from her practice of Reiki, impressed at its effectiveness. Reiki was always present in Chiyoko Yamaguchi's life.

In the late 1990s, the existence of Chiyoko, who studied Reiki directly under Chujiro Hayashi and continued to practice Reiki treatment, became known. In 2000, she and his fourth son, Tadao, decided to hold the “Jikiden Reiki Seminar,” which was a reproduction of the seminar held back when Hayashi sensei was teaching.

2003 (Heisei 15) Until her passing, Chiyoko Yamaguchi did Reiju and taught Reiki to many individuals. She expressed gratitude to Chujiro Hayashi and her uncle Wasaburo Sugano who introduced her to Reiki until her last moment, for bringing Reiki to her life. Chiyoko Yamaguchi's over 60 years of experience with Reiki continues to exist within Jikiden Reiki.

"Hugging Chiyoko Sensei!"

This photo was taken in October 2002 when I attended the seminar for the first time. Chiyoko Sensei was friendly, warm, and full of love, and I felt a strong desire to hug her. Knowing that such a custom is not common in Japan, I mustered up the courage to ask if it was okay to hug her, and Sensei kindly said, "Sure," and gave me a truly wonderful hug. I will never forget it.

"Certified as a Shihankaku in 2003"

In 2003, under the guidance of Chiyoko Sensei, I took the Shihankaku training course. I was excited to learn at the Shihankaku level but also nervous because I was the only one in the class and felt the teacher's focus on me. However, both Chiyoko Sensei and Tadao Sensei taught me very kindly, so I was able to relax quickly. Every time I look at this photo, I feel grateful for what I learned from the teachers.

In April of the 15th year of the Heisei era, I received my certificate upon completing the Shihankaku training course. The day I learned how to do the Reiju from Yamaguchi Sensei was truly exciting. Even now, I cannot forget Chiyoko Sensei's Reiju. Though Sensei had cute little hands, they felt very large during the Reiju. I hope to strive to be able to do Reiki and give Reiju for a lifetime, like Chiyoko Sensei. Thank you very much.
